4 star rated Visit Wales accommodation in one of the following 3 stone built houses

Pentre Bach offers self-catering accommodation in 3 cottages that have been awarded 4 stars by Visit Wales since opening in 2005. They can be booked individually or group bookings can be taken to include all cottages. If booked together or e.g. Xmas, New Year, group and family get togethers or celebrations, the owners can offer group catering and/or communal dining in the Café on site.

What makes us unique?

This is a truly magical setting and is unique since Pentre Bach was actually created to be a film set for a TV series written by Ifana, based on the well-known children’s character Sali Mali. 80 programmes were filmed in all.

Pentre Bach is located in un-spoilt countryside in mid Wales only 7 miles from the coast in the quiet hamlet of Blaenpennal, where red kites are seen daily since we are within a 100 metres of a feeding station for the red kites. An area rich in local history, it is only 14 miles from the seaside university town of Aberystwyth, 12 miles from the university town of Lampeter, 5 miles from the market town of Tregaron, at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains, which offers fantastic walks and magnificent scenery. Also in Tregaron we have the Cors Caron Nature Reserve, which is renowned for its natural beauty and is a bird watcher’s paradise. Walking, cycling and fishing are all within easy reach.

Pentre Bach is close to the coastal path and sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay e.g. Llangrannog and New Quay where bottlenose dolphins and seals may be seen. The Harbourmaster Hotel in Aberaeron is well worth a visit.

A real life fairy tale house. True to its name it is decorated with Butterflies. It was the original farm house built in 1891 by Ifana’s great, great, great Aunt.
Previously known as Pencraig Shop or Tŷ Mawr which translates to Big House. It has 5 bedrooms that sleep up to 8-9 people. The original features of the cottage have been kept including beautiful stripped pine floors, slate flagstones and quarry tiles. There is also a cosy wood burner and the intruging Welsh Cwtch under the stairs.

Also this is where the old shop and post office was situated. Perfect accommodation for family and friends get togethers.

Best holiday we've had in years!

Left on Sep 2, 2016 for a stay in Aug 2016

This was our fourth visit in as many years, and our first time in the Football House. Every time we go, we have a new experience! We've fed chickens, herded sheep, watched Red Kites feeding, paddled in the stream ... Our grandchildren have a relaxed holiday they couldn't possibly have anywhere else! They are free to run around and play, safely, and with a freedom I remember from my own childhood staying with my own grandparents in the country. Mr and Mrs Savill are so friendly, we feel at home with them straight away. We have two 9 year olds and a 7 year old so we hope to have many more summer holidays here. And when they are too old to come, we will come on our own! Highly recommended to anyone with children!

The cottages are all in excellent decorative order and well equipped for families, the outside play areas are generous and there are indoor options too. This is the second time we have holidayed here and heartily recommend. The owners are very friendly and helpful but not at all invasive!
